Planning website and Planning Portal update

Frequently asked questions

About the website

What is changing?

The planning.nsw.gov.au and planningportal.nsw.gov.au websites will merge into a single site from December 2025 to make it easier to find information.

All existing website links will continue to work.

The functions of the NSW Planning Portal and Major Projects Hub remain unchanged. To find the Portal, look for the "Planning Portal login" top right, near the search bar on every page (if you are using a desktop computer).

What is the timeline?

Starting December 2025, the planning.nsw.gov.au and planningportal.nsw.gov.au websites will merge into a single site. You’ll see a new homepage from which you will be able to access all the information and services you already use.

This is part of a larger digital upgrade, with more website improvements rolling out in 2026.

Will my bookmarked links still work?

All existing URLs continue to work, including bookmarked links to the Support hub and Customer Support form.

We have URL redirects in place. As content is refreshed and you are redirected to a new link, bookmarks should be updated.

Navigation

Where are the homepage drop-down menus?

Our top-level homepage tabs take you to new landing pages of our most popular content. From the landing pages, you can navigate to more detailed information.

Can I still access the NSW Planning Portal after December 2025?

Yes. You will be redirected to our new planning website homepage and can log in to the NSW Planning Portal from there. Look for the ‘Planning Portal login’ on the top right of the website.

Where is the ‘My Account’ login?

We have renamed the link. The ‘My Account’ login is now called the ‘Planning Portal login’. The new name describes where users are being directed with no change to the destination.

This is where you login or create an account to conduct business with us in the NSW Planning Portal.

Where is the Support hub?

There are 3 ways to access the Support hub:

  • Go to ‘About Us’ and choose the quick link to ‘Support hub’
  • Scroll to the bottom of any page and click on the ‘Support hub’ link.
  • Search ‘Support hub’

Where is the ‘Find a property’ link?

It’s still on the homepage but has a new location and name. Scroll down to ‘Check property and land use details’ to access the NSW Planning Portal spatial viewer.

You’ll find the spatial viewer on most of our landing pages as well.

Will development application exhibitions still be visible on the website?

Yes. Visit the Development Applications.
